The Original Sin

Bryld Heil detail

Does the Original Sin really exist? Hardly, but sometimes one is in doubt. Children often pick up, learn, or are influenced by what is given to them, good or bad. It is a Biblical sin and not a genetic or hereditary one, originally referring to Christian (mis)interpretation of the story about Adam and Eve.

The blond boy in the picture grew up in a family of well known Danish Nazi Collaborators. He didn´t choose his parents. When he addressed the future with his Nazi arm-stretch and stern look, he was not finally formed as an individual - and certainly a poor, little victim of his parents extremes and surroundings.

Possibly in protest to the tarnished Nazi-legacy of his father and uncle, the boy understandably became a hardline left-wing active in his adulthood, thus distancing himself properly from the sins of the fathers, while being accepted by those who despised his family´s Nazi activities.

BRYLD HEIL

This photograph, which was confiscatet by Danish Freedom Fighters, has been published by the Museum of Danish Resistance in Copenhagen. My friend, former History-lecturer Leif Rosenstock, who worked in the archive of the museum, once showed me this photo, and another one depicting a macabre Christmas tree of the Bryld Family, decorated with Danish and Nazi flags.

Later, when the innocent boy become a professor of History at a Danish University, he distanced himself as much as he could from the Nazi mistakes of his family. However, like many members of the Danish far Left, he had a common enemy with the Nazis in his family.  His choice of profession was even more problematic as his speciality was 20th century Danish history and WWII.

The boy-historian finally retired, but the red and brown joint values didn´t.

As a fierce critic of the Jewish state, the professor once in a while gave people the feeling that he was still not healed from the trauma of his upbringing in an extreme Nazi-collaborator environment - nor his adult extreme left sympathies. Some people stick to their "values" to the very end.

In  2025, actually a couple of months ago, a possible mixture o childhood indoctrination and his "socialist" adulthood had a backflow, when he found the urge to attack a much younger colleague, a research archivist of the Danish National Archives in a Danish Daily, Kristeligt Dagblad (The Christian Daily). The former professor demanded in a letter to the director of the Danish National Archives that the the research activist should be fired for writing a critical review of the latest works of Ilan Pappe.

Well known for screwing up basic historical practices and facts, Mr. Pappé is not a mainstream historian who follows objectivity or critical research methods, thus became the a popular puppet used by haters of Israel. Some of his flawed work were e.g. disclosed in Eliezer Tauber´s very thorough work on the myths of the Deir Yassin alleged Massacre (The Massacre that never was, 2021), which I recently bougt and read.

To stress his disgust for a critical view on Pappé, the old professor, once so childishly copycating his parents by hailing Hitler in the living-room, added injury to insult, by wrongly accusing the archivist of having in a book, published some twenty years ago, incorrectly reported on the former Danish Firm Kampsax´ wartime collaboration with the British Iran based forces, Paiforce, in 1941. That was a rather unique and positive collaboration available to one Danish firm, when most of them - and possibly understandably - were more involved in Nazi collaboration, using slave-labourers, among them Jews, to cut costs. This has of course also been well documented by the historian under attack. Recently he supported his case with solid sources kept in the Danish National Archives.  However, Kampsax was, despite the one-off venture in Iran, mostly engaged in Nazi Collaboration during WWII (see here).

Further completely baseless accusations by history professor emeritus Claus Bryld, aiming at having historian Steen Andersen sacked from his position at the Danish National Archives due to his none-hateful attitude to Israel, have also been thwarted by solid facts published by Andersen.

Modern left-wing-hate toward the State of Israel, might possibly be a kind the Perpetual and Original Sin, and certainly the sister of extreme right-wing hatred of Jews and other minorities.

Going to such length as to defame a younger colleague, who obviously has a greater knowledge of the Nazi occupation of Denmark than some of his elder, is sadly not that new a phenomenon among the "ivy league" of Danish history research.

Danish Kampsax´ activities in Iran didn´t save the world from 46 year of the Horrors of the "Iran Revolution". Instead of depicting an Iranian religious hanging, I chose to have Bob Dylan sing this song about the favourite hate objects of idots in East and West,North and South. But if you don´t believe in the cruelty of Iran religious terror, seek and you will find.
